Becoming a Carer

We are always interested in recruiting new carers for our Family Day Care and In Home Care schemes.  Carers who are registered with Northern Childrens Network Inc are self employed and are able to determine fees and what days and hours they want to work.

TASMANIAN HOME BASED CARE NETWORK

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding our new Tas Home Based Care Network initiative. The following information is a guideline and we look forward to receiving your expression of interest. This form can also be downloaded from our Forms, Newsletters and Policies page. 

·         To qualify you must be able to provide proof that you have been unemployed for a minimum of 3 months. (not necessarily in receipt of a Centrelink benefit)

·         Expression of interest is similar to a resume.

·         The principle behind the project is to provide unemployed people with opportunities to become a professional Family Day Carer (caring for children in your own home) or an In Home Carer (caring for children in the parents home).

·         Regional information sessions to be held late May early June 2010.

·         The training will commence in June/July of this year and you will be required to complete 
30 – 40 hours.

·         You will not be paid by NCN while you are being trained.

·         No prior qualification is required as full Training will be offered, but a desire to work with children is necessary. 

·         Training is free and will offered regionally

·         You will need a child safety screening similar to a police check

·         Formal commitment will be at least 26 weeks of providing child care
(after completion of training)

·         Assistance with set up costs may be available.

·         If you are in receipt of Centrelink benefit it is advisable that you check with your Job Services Australia provider for any additional support.
