Become a Carer
Family day carers are self-employed people who work from their own homes caring for other peoples children. They are able to make their own decisions about the days and hours they wish to work, when they take holidays, etc. Carers are registered with a Family Day Care Scheme, and their registration is based on criteria set down by the State Government and the scheme.

Personal Requirements:
- Character and professional references
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Safety Screening
- Understanding and knowledge of the developmental needs of children
- Applicants arerequired to beover the age of 20 years old
Premises
- Safe, secure home environment with adequate indoor and outdoor space.
- Connected home telephone.

Once you are fully registered, the scheme offers the following support:
- FieldOfficer support
- Toy library access
- Nursery Equipment Loans (12 month period)
- Resource library
- Craft pack
- Paints and glue
- Training
- Weekly playgroups
